1. Introduction

Korean has two number systems: Native Korean numbers and Sino-Korean numbers.
Today, you will learn the Native Korean system, which is mainly used for counting objects, age, and small numbers.

 


 

2. Numbers 1–10

하나 (hana) = 1
둘 (dul) = 2
셋 (set) = 3
넷 (net) = 4
다섯 (daseot) = 5
여섯 (yeoseot) = 6
일곱 (ilgop) = 7
여덟 (yeodeol) = 8
아홉 (ahop) = 9
열 (yeol) = 10

 


 

3. Usage Examples

  • 사과 하나 (sagwa hana) = one apple

  • 친구 둘 (chingu dul) = two friends

  • 책 셋 (chaek set) = three books

  • 사람 넷 (saram net) = four people

  • 나이 다섯 살 (nai daseot sal) = five years old

 


 

4. Sentence Practice

  • 나는 사과 하나를 먹었다. (naneun sagwa hanareul meogeotda) = I ate one apple.

  • 그는 친구 둘이 있다. (geuneun chingu duli itda) = He has two friends.

  • 우리 집에는 책이 셋 있다. (uri jibeneun chaegi set itda) = There are three books in my house.
