[Learn Korean] #017 Final Consonants (받침) Practice – Words and Sentences

1. Introduction

So far, you have learned the rules of 받침 (final consonants) and their pronunciation.
Today’s lesson is all about practice: we will train with common Korean words and short sentences that use 받침.

 


 

2. Word Practice

With ㄱ [k]

  • 박 (bak) = gourd

  • 책 (chaek) = book

  • 밖 (bak) = outside

With ㄴ [n]

  • 눈 (nun) = eye / snow

  • 산 (san) = mountain

  • 문 (mun) = door

With ㄹ [l]

  • 길 (gil) = road

  • 달 (dal) = moon

  • 별 (byeol) = star

With ㅁ [m]

  • 밤 (bam) = night / chestnut

  • 삶 (salm) = life

  • 힘 (him) = strength

With ㅂ [p]

  • 밥 (bap) = rice, meal

  • 집 (jip) = house

  • 숲 (sup) = forest

With ㅇ [ng]

  • 방 (bang) = room

  • 공 (gong) = ball

  • 왕 (wang) = king

 


 

3. Sentence Practice

  1. 책이 있다. (chaegi itda) = There is a book.

  2. 문을 닫다. (muneul datda) = Close the door.

  3. 밤이 길다. (bami gilda) = The night is long.

  4. 밥을 먹다. (babeul meokda) = Eat rice.

  5. 별이 많다. (byeori manta) = There are many stars.

  6. 방에 간다. (bange ganda) = I go to the room.

 


 

4. Exercises

  1. Read aloud all the word lists. Focus on final sounds.

  2. Record yourself reading sentences and check if 받침 sounds are clear.

  3. Try writing 5 new sentences using 받침 words (e.g., 책, 집, 방, 별).
