[Learn Korean] #014 Building Syllable Blocks 2 (Practice with CV and CVC)

1. Introduction

In the previous lesson, we learned the rules for building syllable blocks using consonants (자음) and vowels (모음).
Today, we will practice CV (Consonant + Vowel) and CVC (Consonant + Vowel + Consonant) combinations to strengthen your reading and writing skills.

 


 

2. CV (Consonant + Vowel) Practice

Using consonant ㄱ (g/k) with vowels:

  • 가 (ga)

  • 거 (geo)

  • 고 (go)

  • 구 (gu)

  • 그 (geu)

  • 기 (gi)

Using consonant ㅂ (b/p) with vowels:

  • 바 (ba)

  • 버 (beo)

  • 보 (bo)

  • 부 (bu)

  • 브 (beu)

  • 비 (bi)

 


 

3. CVC (Consonant + Vowel + Consonant) Practice

With final consonant (받침) ㄱ (g/k):

  • 각 (gak)

  • 먹 (meok)

  • 박 (bak)

With final consonant ㄴ (n):

  • 산 (san)

  • 돈 (don)

  • 눈 (nun = eye)

With final consonant ㅂ (b/p):

  • 밥 (bap = rice, meal)

  • 잡 (jab = to grab)

  • 숲 (sup = forest)

 


 

4. Reading Practice Words

  • 사람 (saram) = person

  • 바다 (bada) = sea

  • 한국 (hanguk) = Korea

  • 음식 (eumsik) = food

  • 집 (jip) = house

 


 

5. Exercises

  1. Write and read all syllables with ㄱ + vowels and ㅂ + vowels.

  2. Create at least 5 new CVC words using the 받침 you learned.

  3. Try to read these sentences:

    • 나는 사람이다. (naneun saramida) = I am a person.

    • 한국은 아름답다. (hangugeun areumdapda) = Korea is beautiful.
