Extended Restart Selection Time After Content Ends, Difficulty Infiltration Operation Option Adjustment
– Joo Min-Seok, Director of Nexon Games’ The First Descendant
Nexon will address some inconvenient features and lower the difficulty of the “Frost Walker” mechanism, which had a somewhat low interception success rate in public matchmaking, with the 1.0.7 hotfix for ‘The First Descendant’.
Joo Min-Seok, the Director of The First Descendant at Nexon Games, stated on the 8th, “The 1.0.7 hotfix addresses issues that need verification and is planned to be released on August 13th,” and provided an overview of the key modifications.
In the 1.0.7 hotfix, the options ‘Grappling Hook Disabled’ and ‘Jump Disabled’ will be removed from the selection option list of the Hard Infiltration Operation. Additionally, the issue where the entire selection would be cleared when changing after selecting all options will be fixed.
Director Joo mentioned, “For Season 1, further improvements to the Hard Infiltration Operation are being prepared. We are revising the operation to focus more on elimination rather than a capture-based task. Additionally, we are changing the random combination of selection options to a preset selection method and expanding the matchmaking range.”
Content modifications will also be implemented. The time to select a restart after the conclusion of Interception, Special Operations, and Infiltration Operations will be extended, and the “Restart with Squad” and “Restart Alone” buttons will be separated. Once this change is applied, users will be able to choose the type of restart according to their needs.
Even if a character is in a danger zone when the interception ends, they will not take damage. This change is expected to greatly alleviate the inconvenience users felt when using the ‘Rebuild Device’.
The difficulty of the ‘Frost Walker’ mechanism, which was challenging to tackle in public matchmaking, will be lowered. Director Joo hoped that more users would enjoy intercepting the Frost Walker.
During Special Operations, AFK users will automatically have ‘Suspend’ selected, and in Void Fusion Reactor, monster health will be reduced, and more ammunition will drop upon defeat. In the ‘Echo Swamp Abandoned Hideout,’ Void Shard (Poison Attribute) monsters will spawn more quickly.
Improvements will also be made to the phenomenon where players did not gain proficiency with equipped weapons when defeating monsters with ‘dedicated weapons’ like Luna’s Stage Control. As a result, users are expected to enjoy a much more pleasant gaming environment than before.
Lastly, Director Joo shared news of convenience improvements. The development team’s goal is to create an environment where users can farm more conveniently. In 1.0.7, a function will be added that allows users to quickly identify key information about equipment in the inventory by simply looking at the icons.
Director Joo explained, “We will add functions that allow users to identify how many gold options are attached to the equipment without opening the tooltip, as well as to identify the attributes and archetype of the reactor in icon form. Additionally, we will modify the tooltip to open faster so users can more easily sort valuable loot.”
After sharing the ‘build diversity support’ plan in the last patch notes, a discussion emerged in the community about whether socket type assignments would need to be performed 11 times on the 2nd and 3rd pages of the loadout settings.
The development team is revising the build diversity support to be more user-friendly, so that loadout settings 1, 2, and 3 can use the same loadout as before. The socket type assignment will only be added when completely different socket types are used for each loadout.
Director Joo, who conveyed the news of 1.0.7, stated, “The First Descendant development team aims to grow the game into one that will be loved for a long time. To achieve this, we will improve the game in a direction that resonates with users,” ending the announcement.
