“With its simple controls, BTS Cooking On allows players to embark on an exciting global culinary journey with BTS characters, TinyTAN, satisfying both game and artist fans alike.”

Com2uS will officially launch the new cooking simulation game ‘BTS Cooking On: TinyTAN Restaurant’ in the global market on August 7.

This game combines the development expertise of Grampus, which achieved 33 million downloads globally with cooking simulation games like ‘Cooking Adventure’ and ‘My Little Chef,’ with Com2uS’s live service know-how and BTS’s characters, TinyTAN. It aims to captivate global gaming fans and the K-POP fandom.

In BTS Cooking On, players can travel around the world with TinyTAN, managing restaurants featuring representative dishes from various cities.

Throughout this journey, players will experience storytelling enriched with TinyTAN’s charming universe, encounter photo cards featuring TinyTAN characters, and enjoy various collectible elements like customizing TinyTAN stages. On these personalized stages, players can listen to BTS songs such as “Butter,” “DNA,” and “MIC Drop.”

One of the strengths of BTS Cooking On is its simple touch-based control system and intuitive gameplay, making it accessible to players of all ages. Com2uS plans to target global gamers by leveraging the robust gameplay and the global IP of TinyTAN.

Sohn Ji-Won, the PD of Grampus’s BTS Cooking On, expressed confidence by stating, “Games based on idol IPs often receive criticism for lacking gameplay. BTS Cooking On aims to break that perception, offering an enjoyable gaming experience for global gamers and helping artist fans become established as regular players.” Here are some essential tips to know before embarking on a journey with TinyTAN on August 7.

Q. What are the pre-registration benefits?

Players who pre-register before the official launch will receive one SR chef photo card voucher, one SR Butter photo card voucher, and 20 random booster piece boxes.

Q. How are TinyTAN and cooking connected in the game?

According to the developers, they initially attempted to directly link cooking and TinyTAN characters in various ways. However, considering balance issues, the connection between TinyTAN and gameplay was intentionally excluded, allowing the outcome to solely depend on the player’s skill.

As a result, players earn TinyTAN points based on their performance, which can be used to acquire photo cards in a cyclical structure.

Q. What is the gameplay and control method like?

When starting the game, players can check the stages and begin restaurant management upon entering a stage. Each stage presents various missions, such as serving five customers and achieving a target of 40 gold. Completing these goals will finish the stage.

The control method is 100% touch-based. The gameplay resembles typical cooking tycoon games, where players must prepare and serve dishes according to the images in customers’ speech bubbles.

For customers who order multiple dishes, players can serve them sequentially. As stages progress, more recipes become available, allowing players to create various dishes.

A timer appears in the upper-right corner when cooking. If the timer is missed, the food will burn. Burned or incorrectly made dishes can be cleared with two touches. Additionally, penalties are incurred if customers wait too long, so caution is needed.

Q. The cooking timer goes too fast, making it difficult to adapt.

Using the special booster item ‘TinyTAN Time’ can help when too many customers crowd the restaurant and orders pile up, making customers more patient and extending the serving time limit. The restaurant ambiance will also transform into a concert-like stage with BTS music playing.

Q. How do you acquire ingredients?

Ingredients and cooking tools can be upgraded with gold. Actively utilizing upgrades makes it easier to succeed in stages. The upgrade feature can be found before starting a stage. By pressing the upgrade button, a list of tools and ingredients used in cooking, such as gas stoves and trays, is displayed. It is important to identify the necessary elements and upgrade accordingly.

Q. How does in-game purchasing work?

The game employs a BM (Business Model) structure commonly found in simulation and casual games. It includes a season pass and supporting items to aid game progress. Players can also expect to see recommended items or ad revenue models appearing during gameplay.

Photo cards encourage gameplay and motivate fans, and all photo cards can be obtained through gameplay alone. However, the seasonal binder requires logging in during specific periods to collect.

Q. Can players listen to BTS music on the customizable TinyTAN stage? How many songs are included, and what are the future plans for additions?

At launch, “Butter” will be included. More BTS music will be released irregularly in the future. The developers stated, “Currently, about 10 songs are prepared, and we are working to add more tracks. As the official game featuring TinyTAN, a BTS character, we aim to ensure various BTS songs play within the game.”

Q. What are the launch specs (number of cities and dishes, overall volume), and what are the future update plans?

The launch specs include four cities (Seoul, New York, Bali, Paris), TinyTAN Festival, Seasonal Restaurant, and Chef Challenge, with a total of 18 restaurants.

There are three types of photo card binders. At launch, the binders feature themes such as BTS music theme “Butter,” a non-music theme “Chef,” and a seasonal theme “Cruise Ship Crew.” Cities, TinyTAN Festivals, Seasonal Restaurants, and photo card binders will be sequentially added with each regular update.

Various usage methods will be added to utilize the collected photo cards effectively. Events and content that can be enjoyed with club members are planned to activate the clubs.

Q. Is a PC version available?

The launch specs offer service only in the mobile version, available on the Apple App Store, Google Play, and One Store. The developers plan to expand to various platforms focusing on PC, including Nintendo Switch.

Q. What content will attract artist fans’ interest?

The developers have declared that they would not create a game solely focused on fandom when developing BTS Cooking On. They believe that games made only for fandoms have clear limitations, so it is crucial to capture the hearts of casual gamers.

Accordingly, they designed the scenario and universe to naturally link casual gamers with the global fandom. Artist fans will discover connection points with the universe built by TinyTAN and Grampus while exploring various cities and stories in the game. Casual gamers will find touchpoints with TinyTAN and cooking as they create various dishes.
