[GAMETOC] Tekken 8’s New Character ‘Lidia’ to Officially Release on the 25th

Early Access on July 22… Beach Map, Photo Mode, and Beach Costumes to Be Introduced

On the 12th, Bandai Namco announced the release date and detailed information for the second DLC character, Lidia Sobieska, during a live broadcast of ‘Tekken 8.’

Lidia, who has trained in karate, is the next Prime Minister of Poland. She possesses a challenging mechanism that induces psychological warfare with the enemy through various stances and counter techniques. One of the highlights of Tekken 8’s new technology is that it allows combos to be initiated in more diverse situations compared to the previous game.

In Tekken 8, Lidia uses four types of stances. Her stance psychology is similar to that of ‘Reina,’ who uses the stance system. However, when Lidia uses the stance in a heat state, she can ignore the opponent’s power crash, making her stance operation potentially more threatening than Reina’s.

Lidia’s ultimate stance, ‘Heaven and Earth,’ is the best stance in the game. When in this stance, the special skill gauge reduces heat gauge consumption and can be stacked up to three times. This gauge is maintained in the next round, making it more useful in late-round psychological battles.

Fans who watched Lidia’s gameplay video had varied reactions such as, “Can she surpass Dragunov, Victor, and Feng Wei?” “Release Julia,” “Power Breaker seems overbalanced,” “It looks fun to play,” “We need to revive the game,” and “If she’s too good, she’ll get nerfed again.”

Lidia will be officially released on July 25, and users who pre-purchased the DLC can access it three days early.

Meanwhile, Bandai Namco plans to introduce version 1.06 on July 23 along with Lidia’s release. As mentioned in a previous patch, character balance adjustments will not be carried out, focusing instead on bug fixes.

The update will also include the Beach Resort stage, improvements to the special style, the ability to play Tekken Ball while waiting for matches, a photo mode, beach costumes, and the second fight pass. The developers stated, “As the release approaches, we have changed the main menu to feature Lidia. We are also considering allowing free changes to the main menu character in the future.”
