Surprisingly Simple Wipe Pattern… Destroy Core from Cliff, Collect Embers to Counter
Nexon’s The First Descendant ‘Frost Walker’ uses wipe mechanics at 4:20 and 7:20. This mechanic, which troubles many Descendants, can be countered by using a grappling hook to climb to a high place, destroying the core, and collecting embers.
Frost Walker is an ice attribute giant. It is recommended to set the Descendant module with ice resistance and the weapon module with flame enhancement options.
The key strategy for Frost Walker is ember collection. These embers play a crucial role in countering the wipe mechanic used at 4:20 and 7:20. When you collect embers, you can see the ember stack accumulating in the left UI.
When you reach 6 stacks, a fire aura is generated. The person with the fire aura will not be frozen by the wipe mechanic and can thaw other party members. Typically, embers are collected when about 8 minutes are left.
Another threatening ability is the sprint missile. Frost Walker fires missiles while sprinting, and not only does it deal significant damage if hit, but it also reduces the accumulated ember stacks. The other mechanics are not very difficult and can be easily tackled.
■ Main Patterns
Frost Walker’s constant pattern is the wipe mechanic used at 4:20 and 7:20. The counter method is simple. At the time the wipe mechanic is about to be used, climb the pillars around the boss and destroy the 3 cores on its back.
Destroying these cores generates embers. The central core has 4, and the central and side cores have 2 each. When embers are generated in the field, collect about 4-5 of them. Then, collect up to 6 embers by 7:30. The person who collects the embers can thaw the frozen allies during the wipe mechanic.
At this time, be careful of Frost Walker’s mechanics that reduce the stacked embers. The sprint missile, the shotgun attack in front, and the laser attack are typical examples. Additionally, approaching the boss also makes the ember stacks disappear.
You can also collect ember stacks by defeating the surrounding bugs around the boss. In summary, one party member should destroy parts and defeat bugs to stack 6 embers by the wipe mechanic time and rescue the other party members.
◎ Wipe Mechanic Response Order
① Use the grappling hook to climb up the cliff and destroy the core
② Destroying the core generates embers on the ground
③ Collecting embers accumulates buff stacks
④ When 6 ember stacks are accumulated, it turns into a thawing buff
⑤ The person with the thawing buff can rescue the frozen party members
■ Constant Patterns
Most of Frost Walker’s abilities reduce ember stacks if hit. The person responsible for the thawing buff should be careful not to get hit as much as possible. Note that ember stacks decrease when close to Frost Walker, so use the grappling hook to go up or refrain from using close-range skills.
◎ Constant Pattern Types
① Front shotgun
② Missile (charging missile)
③ Front laser
④ Frozen jump (wipe if thawing buff is not held)
