Center for Korean Language and Culture was established with the foundation philosophy of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, which is the foundation of truth, peace, and creativity. CKLC provides the best Korean language education in Korea for foreign learners who are living in Korea, overseas Koreans and foreign learners who want to learn Korean language.

The Center for Korean Language and Culture at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies is the seat of high quality language education. The Foreign Language Training Insititute which established in 1974 is the forerunner of CKLC. For the past 30 years, many foreigners and overseas Koreans have passed through this center to learn the Korean language and Korea’s unique culture. With the aim of advancing the Korean language in the international arena and providing a higher level of professional Korean language education, the Center for Korean Language and Culture was reestablished in 2006. Over the past 30 years, a large number of foreigners and overseas Koreans have learned Korean and Korean culture in this center, and about 4,000 students are being educated each year.

Regular Course
The standard courses are for foreigners and overseas Koreans living in Korea. There are 12 to 15 students per class with 10 weeks of class per semester for 4 hours a day (approximately 200 hours per 10-week term). Classes are held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., but depending on the circumstances, it may be opened in the afternoon. Regular courses are divided into 6 levels and in order to successfully complete a level, students must pass a final exam and cannot be absent for more than 1/5 of the course, i.e. students must attend at least 40 days of instruction.
Short-term Course
The short-term courses are offered to foreigners and overseas Koreans twice a year in Spring and Summer. The course consists of 4 weeks of Korean speaking, listening, reading and writing. Also, students can participate in various cultural activities. Classes are from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and there are 7 to 13 students per class.
