– Black Myth: Wukong Chapter 2 Final Boss Yellow Wind Sage
This article contains spoilers for Chapter 2 of Black Myth: Wukong.
Many gamers are currently enjoying Game Science’s “Black Myth: Wukong.” Within just 11 hours of its release, the game surpassed 2.2 million concurrent players, marking a major success. This number is the second-highest in Steam’s history for concurrent players and the highest for a single-player game.
Amidst the widespread enjoyment, many players find themselves stuck at certain points. Particularly in Chapter 2, the difficulty spikes compared to Chapter 1, leading to frustration, especially at the boss stages. The main culprit for this frustration is the final boss of Chapter 2, “Yellow Wind Sage.”
The main challenge in defeating the Yellow Wind Sage is dealing with the powerful sandstorm pattern that begins in Phase 2. This pattern makes the boss disappear from sight and launches a series of dangerous attacks, making it difficult to avoid and counter.
However, if you complete a hidden quest and obtain the “Wind-fixing Pearl,” one of the game’s “Magic Treasures,” you can dispel the sandstorm in Phase 2 and gain a long window to attack. Along the way, you can also defeat three bosses and enjoy the Wind-fixing Pearl’s passive effect, which slightly increases damage reduction. It’s highly recommended to obtain this item.
It takes about an hour to obtain the Wind-fixing Pearl, assuming you defeat all bosses without retrying. If you skip the story, it should take around 30 to 40 minutes. Here’s a simplified guide on how to obtain the Wind-fixing Pearl, which will greatly help in defeating the Yellow Wind Sage.
■ Talk to the Yellow-Robed Squire to Start the Quest
– Use fast travel to the Rockrest Flat Shrine and head in the highlighted direction.
– You’ll find him sitting on a rock, making it easy to locate him.
Start the quest from the “Rockrest Flat Shrine” within “Fright Cliff.” After using fast travel, head in the direction shown in the picture, where you’ll find a pig lying down. This NPC, called the “Yellow-Robed Squire,” is the person who will start the quest to obtain the Wind-fixing Pearl. As a side note, beyond this NPC towards the cliff is a meditation spot where you can gain an additional attribute point, so make sure to visit it.
When you talk to him, he’ll ask you to get him something to cure his hangover. The item you need is the “Hangover Stone,” which you can find after crossing a bridge from the Wind-Sealing Shrine. Proceed to the left, and you’ll find a glowing jar in a warehouse. Break it to obtain the Hangover Stone.
– You can obtain the Hangover Stone from this jar.
After acquiring the Hangover Stone, give it to the Yellow-Robed Squire, who will then mention he’s going to “The Crouching Tiger Temple” in search of food. This area is where you previously fought the “Tiger Vanguard.” You can quickly travel there using fast travel. When you reach The Crouching Tiger Temple, you’ll find the Yellow-Robed Squire lying down near the right path before entering the temple’s interior.
Talk to him, and he’ll ask for “Green Lotus Root,” a tasty ingredient. You might have already gathered this from the field, but if not, you can buy it at a shrine using your energy. Give him the Green Lotus Root, and he’ll suggest meeting again at the first location before disappearing.
– You’ll find him lying in the same place.
To proceed with the quest, you’ll need “The Arhat Gold Piece.” This item can be obtained by defeating the “First Prince of the Flowing Sands.” If you defeated the prince before the “King of Flowing Sands” boss, a cutscene will automatically play, and the First Prince will appear.
If you killed the king first, you’ll get the “Meat Chunk” item instead. This item can be used to summon the First Prince by using it in a cave near the “Valley Of Despair” Shrine in “Sandgate Village.” If you haven’t killed the prince yet, keep this in mind.
Once you’ve acquired The Arhat Gold Piece, return to where you first met the Yellow-Robed Squire. You’ll see the NPC wandering around. As you approach, he’ll start a boss battle, questioning how you obtained The Arhat Gold Piece. The difficulty of this boss isn’t particularly high, so stay calm, dodge his attacks, and you’ll defeat him easily.
– The difficulty is much lower compared to previous bosses.

■ Defeat Two Bosses in the Secret “The Kingdom of Sahali”
– Defeat the undamaged Guardian.
After defeating the Yellow-Robed Squire, a cutscene will play. After watching the video, follow the NPC to the previously inaccessible stone gate. After a story cutscene, you’ll enter the “Secret Kingdom of Sahali.”
Interact with the shrine in the area and move forward to face a boss fight against the original form of the “Tiger Vanguard” before he went mad. His continuous attacks are quite threatening, and he also uses the petrification pattern from his original form, so be cautious when attacking. This boss isn’t particularly difficult, so you should be able to defeat him with enough attempts.
After defeating him, you’ll encounter a different-looking “Yellow Wind Sage.” When you talk to him, he’ll summon a giant beetle-like boss called “Fuban.” Fuban attacks by burrowing underground to ambush the player or by swinging its large arms. While its damage is high, its motions are slow, making dodging key to surviving.
– The giant beetle-like boss, Fuban.
When fighting this boss, attack its two front legs as its back legs and carapace are immune to damage. After dealing a certain amount of damage, Fuban will burrow underground, triggering a cutscene where the Yellow Wind Sage helps you, causing the boss to become stunned for a long period. At this point, you can climb the boss to retrieve a treasure.
After this, you’ll work with the Yellow Wind Sage to defeat the boss. With his strong AI and damage output, the fight becomes much easier than before. Defeat the boss, and you’ll return to the original map with the Wind-fixing Pearl in your possession.
– The Wind-fixing Pearl can be equipped as a Magic Treasure.
■ Using the Wind-fixing Pearl at the Start of Phase 2 Greatly Lowers the Difficulty
– Using it will clear the sandstorm, giving you clear visibility.
– Calmly attack during the aftereffects, and you’ll steadily chip away at his health.
With the Wind-fixing Pearl, you can now face the boss under much better conditions. Once you lower the boss’s health to around 70%, he will begin to prepare for Phase 2 with a line of dialogue mentioning “Divine Wind.” During this time, stay away from the boss to avoid his area-wide attacks and take a moment to regroup.
As soon as the boss disappears into the sandstorm, use the Wind-fixing Pearl by pressing the Magic Treasure button. This will dispel the sandstorm with a line of dialogue, and the boss will become stunned for a long time, giving you enough time to land a full combo of light attacks.
With the sandstorm gone, the boss loses its most dangerous patterns, leaving mostly attacks with noticeable wind-up times. From this point on, don’t rush; instead, calmly counterattack during the boss’s aftereffects and steadily deplete its health.
At this stage, you can also use the “Cloning Technique,” though it currently doesn’t provide much benefit relative to the energy it consumes. Instead, I recommend using the “Stop Technique” to ensure continuous safe attack windows. Defeating the Yellow Wind Sage will conclude Chapter 2 and allow you to progress to Chapter 3.
– The difficulty difference before and after obtaining the Wind-fixing Pearl is significant, so it’s highly recommended to obtain it.
