[GAMETOC] Black Ops 6 to Hold First-Ever Open Beta on All Platforms

Early Access from August 30 to September 4, Open Beta from September 6 to 9

Blizzard will conduct an open beta for “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6” on all platforms, including PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, for the first time in the franchise’s history.

On the 16th, Blizzard announced the early access and open beta dates for Black Ops 6 during the Call of Duty official YouTube channel podcast. Early access will take place from August 30 to September 4, with the open beta following from September 6 to 9.

Previously, open betas for the Call of Duty series were only held on PlayStation. This marks the first time in the franchise’s history that users across all platforms can participate, following Blizzard’s policy to provide equal game access on all platforms for the next 10 years.

Early access will be available to Game Pass subscribers and those who pre-order Black Ops 6. The open beta will be accessible to all players, regardless of pre-order status. The official release date is set for October 25.

There was also mention of the popular “Zombies Mode” from the Black Ops series. Black Ops 6 will see the return of the round-based Zombies Mode, featuring two new maps continuing the Dark Aether storyline.

Additionally, Black Ops 6 will introduce a different scorestreak system compared to the previous “Cold War” game. In Cold War, scores did not reset upon death, which was unusual. Black Ops 6 will revert to the traditional scorestreak system where scores reset upon death.

The Black Ops series is set against the backdrop of the 1990s, a period of geopolitical transition and upheaval as the Cold War ended and the United States emerged as the sole superpower. The slogan for the sixth installment is “The Truth Lies.”

Blizzard also announced that more information about the campaign, multiplayer, and zombie content of Black Ops 6 will be shared in the coming weeks. The next set of details will be revealed on August 28 during the “Call of Duty Next” event.
