To improve the unfairness of rewards for higher-level bosses, definite rewards have been added.
– Changseop Kim, MapleStory Director
Nexon’s ‘MapleStory’ is adding a complete Eternal Armor Box to the boss rewards as part of the boss reward revamp.
On the 11th, Nexon held a live broadcast on MapleStory’s official YouTube channel. Director Changseop Kim appeared on the broadcast to share details about the upcoming updates.
As a hard difficulty reward for Grandis bosses, a special armor box containing a complete Eternal Armor will be introduced. Previously, it was only possible to obtain the complete product by collecting 10 fragments from each boss and exchanging them.
Director Kim explained, “There were many cases where challenging more difficult bosses was disadvantageous in terms of rewards,” adding, “To solve this and provide a definite sense of reward, we have added a complete Eternal Armor Box to the higher difficulty levels.”
– The ‘Complete Eternal Armor Box’ dropped by the new boss Limbo (top), and the boxes dropped by Seren, Kalos, and Kaling
The ‘Small Highly Concentrated EXP Accumulation Potion’ added along with the complete Eternal Armor Box follows the same rationale. Director Kim stated that although the EXP Accumulation Potion is not an extremely attractive reward, it was included to provide a slightly more satisfying experience.
With the boss reward revamp, unnecessary rewards such as the ‘Essence of the Beginning,’ ‘Small EXP Accumulation Potion and Recipe,’ will be removed. The targets for these reward removals are the bosses ‘Chosen Seren,’ ‘Watcher Kalos,’ and ‘Kaling.’
The sales method for the boss reward ‘Intense Power Crystal’ (hereafter referred to as the crystal), which directly affects meso acquisition, will also be changed. Crystals will be divided into daily, weekly, and monthly crystals, and a maximum of 12 weekly crystals can be sold per character.
Director Kim explained, “We revamped this to prevent players from feeling obligated to play the game as a kind of ‘homework’,” adding, “This is to prevent the excessive increase of homework as more bosses are added.”
– The total amount of mesos obtained will increase compared to before
The change in the sales method of crystals will not significantly affect the total amount of mesos obtained. The price of crystals from higher-level bosses will be increased, allowing players to earn slightly more mesos. The meso acquisition amount for solo play up to ‘True Hilla’ will increase by about 0.96%.
To commemorate the release of the new boss Limbo, a ‘First Defeat Mission’ event will be held. The first three parties to defeat the hard-difficulty Limbo will receive 5 million Maple Points and various decorative items as rewards. Up to 3-person parties can participate.
Meanwhile, Director Kim expressed his regret for the lack of significant changes to the skills of each job. He explained, “I apologize for repeating what was said in the showcase. We are continuously working on revamping and adding skills,” adding, “However, there are priorities. We will present the skills after further refinement.”
