[GAMETOC] Knowing the Characters Makes ‘Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross’ More Fun

Understanding the world-building and main characters of the original ‘Seven Deadly Sins’

In May, Netmarble began pre-registration for the mobile casual RPG ‘Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross’. After gaining experience in idle RPG games with last year’s release of ‘Seven Knights Idle’, Netmarble plans to continue its success with ‘Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross’.

‘Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross’ retains the strengths of traditional idle casual games, such as short play times and easy controls. It also features a proven IP with over 55 million copies sold worldwide, unique strategies, and diverse content.

In ‘Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross’, players can directly experience the narration of the original anime within the game. Naturally, knowing the background and key characters of the original story enhances the enjoyment of the game. GameTalk has summarized the world and main characters of ‘Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross’ for you.

■ The Crisis of the Kingdom of Liones and the ‘Seven Deadly Sins’ Knights

The story is set in the Kingdom of Liones on the continent of Britannia. The kingdom is in crisis due to a rebellion by the Holy Knights, and the third princess, Elizabeth, seeks out the ‘Seven Deadly Sins’ knights, known for their legendary feats, to save the kingdom.

The ‘Seven Deadly Sins’ knights each symbolize one of the seven deadly sins: Meliodas (Wrath), Escanor (Pride), Merlin (Gluttony), Ban (Greed), King (Sloth), Diane (Envy), and Gowther (Lust). The main characters driving the story in ‘Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross’ are the protagonist and captain Meliodas, Princess Elizabeth, and the talking pig Hawk.

■ Meliodas, Son of the Demon King and Leader of the ‘Seven Deadly Sins’

Meliodas is the eldest son of the Demon King and the leader of the ‘Seven Deadly Sins’. Representing the sin of Wrath, he was formerly the leader of the Demon Clan’s elite force. His ruthless and merciless nature instilled fear in many.

Contrary to his sinful moniker, Meliodas is actually just and altruistic. He has left the demon realm and now runs a tavern called ‘Boar Hat’. With his friendly personality, he has gathered the strongest individuals from various races, including humans, giants, and fairies, to form the ‘Seven Deadly Sins’ and face numerous crises together.

■ Princess Elizabeth, Seeking to Save the Kingdom

Elizabeth is the third princess of the Kingdom of Liones. She embarks on a journey to find the ‘Seven Deadly Sins’ knights to resolve the kingdom’s crisis. Despite her youthful and innocent appearance, she possesses a strong-willed character.

Elizabeth’s past and true identity are crucial elements of the original ‘Seven Deadly Sins’ story. She awakens a hidden power that brings twists to the storyline. Later, she has a son named Tristan with Meliodas. Tristan becomes a central figure in the sequel anime ‘Four Knights of the Apocalypse’. Last year, at G-STAR, Netmarble’s open-world adventure RPG ‘Seven Deadly Sins: Origin’ featured Tristan as a key character.

■ Hawk, the Talking Pig Mascot of the ‘Seven Deadly Sins’

Hawk, the talking pig, is beloved by many fans for his cute appearance and bubbly personality, making him the mascot of the ‘Seven Deadly Sins’. He helps run the tavern with Meliodas and, despite his playful demeanor, shows dedication and sacrifice for his comrades.

Boasting a voracious appetite, Hawk handles leftover food at Meliodas’s tavern. He possesses various abilities, including transforming into different creatures, adding an element of mystery to the world. While Hawk is not a playable character in ‘Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross’, he remains a significant character in the game’s storyline.
