Soonsiki is a popular hair salon in Korea with the flagship store in Hongdae and a second location in Hapjeong. This luxury hair salon is frequented by many celebrities and models which is very apparent as soon as you step foot into the salon. There were colorful neon lights and signs all around the wall and a giant table in the middle of the room where the hair stylists will speak with clients to find the proper haircut, style, color for the client’s hair type, face shape, etc. The first thing I noticed when I walked into the salon was how stylish and cool each hair stylist looked. Their hair was perfectly styled and perfectly colored, as expected from a hair stylist, but their outfits and the way they presented themselves gave off very trendy, relaxed, approachable vibes.
I booked my appointment through Instagram DMs after seeing so many people recommend the salon on TikTok. I believe you can also make a reservation through Naver or their website as well. If you are getting your hair dyed, they will give you a complimentary hair care bag before you start your session. I only asked for a haircut but I still had a top-tier experience. After checking into your appointment at the front desk, they put you in a robe and put your bags into a locker for you. I was assigned to a stylist and she asked what haircut I wanted. I showed her a few pictures of what I wanted, even though all the reference pictures I found were longer than my pre-cut hair. She pulled up her own reference pictures from her archive based off of what she thought I was looking for and helped me figure out what would look best with my hair type and face shape. We settled for a hush cut with some face framing pieces and wispy bangs. They washed my hair while making some short small talk and gave me a keratin treatment before cutting my hair.
Anytime they put a product into my hair, my stylist always detailed what the product was and what it would do for my hair. The whole experience took no more than an hour, with a total cost for my appointment was 44,000 won, or roughly $33 USD; very cheap in comparison to the treatment and results you would get in the US.
Overall, my hair experience in Korea exceeded any expectations I had. The customer service was extremely helpful and accommodating for each person and the price was unbeatable, especially for the quality of treatment I received. If you are coming to Korea, there is no way you should miss out on any hair experience you can get, even if it is just a haircut.
